Program Overview

The Wild Naturalist program helps children discover the plants, animals, and ecosystems of the American River Parkway through place-based learning.

Each week focuses on one theme with games, observations, art, and journaling.

Goals:

  • Connect children with the natural world in their own community.

  • Build knowledge about local ecology and cultural history.

  • Inspire stewardship and a sense of belonging in nature.
